BILL'S RAILROAD EMPIRE

Bill's

As you can imagine, I have accumulated many N scale locomotives over the last 33 years.

When complete, this list will have the railroads, the manufacturers of the N scale locomotives, as well as the various locomotive models. Click on the highlighted text to view a photo of a representative locomotive. More photos are coming soon.

A list of the manufacturers and how the various locomotives perform will be added soon.

I've included some information and photos of the Bicentennial locomotives that were made for the 200th anniversary of the United States in 1976.

BICENTENNIAL DIESELS

To celebrate the 200th anniverary of the United States, a number of railroads painted locomotives in a patriotic red, white, and blue scheme. Model and toy train manufacturers alike were quick to copy these colorful paint schemes.

Bachmann did a nice rendition of the SCL U36B #1776 in N and HO scale with matching caboose and six box cars. They also did a N&W U36B #1776. The photos above are the N scale models by Bachmann. N&W's real Bicentennial engine was a SD45.

Con Cor did free-lanced schemes on engines and cars and Kadee MicroTrains did a nice set of cars. Several HO manufacturers also did engines and cars in their own fantasy schemes.

Lionel made the SCL U36B, cars for the thirteen original states, and fantasy sets including the Liberty Special for this special occasion.
